Current News:

It seems like just yesterday; we printed shirts that said, "Trading Spaces," but it actually has been six years since our school moved from St. Francis to the St. James Campus.  Due to recent developments within the Parish, the decision has been made to return the school to the St. Francis campus.  Although this will require a great deal of work, the St. Francis building has several advantages, such as:
-A larger space which is newer and requires less maintenance
-Rooms for art and music
-Locker rooms for physical education and sports
-State of the art science and computer facilities
-Cafeteria facility in the building
-A place to build our greenhouse

We know that a school is not about the building, but it is about who is in the building- our students and staff.  It will be our home again.

We believe the work we do in our school is God's Mission.

Welcome!

Quality education has always been valued highly by the parishes of St. Francis de Sales and St. James located in the West 7th Street Neighborhood of St. Paul. In 1884 St. Francis de Sales School opened its doors to the children of Catholic immigrants from Hungary, Austria and Germany. Irish immigrants established St. James parish just three years later and opened its own school in 1913. These two schools, at the center of each church community for nearly 100 years, were consolidated in 1988 into St. Francis-St. James United School (SFSJUS).  Delivering a kindergarten through 8th grade program, the school offers a full curriculum and personalized student attention through small class sizes and an exceptional staff.  In fact many school parents and faculty went to school here themselves.

SFSJUS students consistently perform well above the norms when compared to students elsewhere and we are proud of our solid academics taught in a faith-based environment.  Even non-Catholic families, who send their children here, appreciate our advantages.

Beginning with the 2008-09 school year SFSJUS provides leading edge programs in advanced mathematics and reading.  We have expanded our fine arts programs and electives to include more art, music, band and guitar, drama and photo-journalism.  Other activities such as yearbook, student council, community service projects, Mass servers, book and chess clubs plus school patrols allow all students the opportunity to be a part of the SFSJUS community.

For over 120 years we have been preparing young people for a life based on Christian principals, good works and a thirst for knowledge. Come visit us and see if you don't agree that SFSJUS is a very special place.  Welcome!
